Early Childhood and Elementary Education

Early childhood education program, student helping a young personIf you're interested in pursuing a career working with children and families, this may be the program for you. Possible careers include:

  • Working with infants and toddlers
  • Teaching preschool
  • Teaching elementary school
  • Working with children with special needs
  • Working as a child care center director
  • Working in an after-school program
  • Working as a teacher's assistant
  • Providing counseling services for young children
  • Teaching parenting classes
  • Working as a family advocate
  • Working as a home visitor

Coursework is based on the Standards for Professional Preparation of Early Childhood Professionals from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
