Occupation Skill Training

    Employment Skills Training - Register

    Provides work-based learning and assessment in selected occupational environments.
    Prerequisites: MTH20, RD30 and WR30 or designated placement test scores, and permission of advisor.

    Cooperative Work Experience/Employment Skills Training - Register

    Offers cooperative work experience training or on-the-job evaluation to students in the Employment Skills Training program.
    Prerequisite: Permission of instructor.

  • SRV101 1-3 credits
    Community Service Learning - Register

    Develops a personal understanding of civic engagement via direct service to a community-based organization and through critical reflection. Students may propose service projects of their own design or may choose from a list of available projects. Course emphasis is on participating in activities that address identified community needs while developing academic skills and self-awareness. Course graded on a pass/no pass basis.
    Prerequisites: MTH20, RD30, WR30 and permission of advisor.

    Skills Training Seminar - Register

    Provides students with opportunities to learn strategies for workplace success and career advancement. Topics related to experiential learning are addressed, including: techniques for self-monitoring and tracking progress, sustaining positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors, working with mentors, and handling workplace conflict. Presents information regarding the role played by non-verbal communication, written and unwritten workplace policies, and positive work ethics.
    Prerequisites: RD30 and WR30 or designated placement test scores and permission of instructor.

    Cooperative Work Experience/Seminar - Register

    Provides students with strategies for successful experiential learning including techniques for self-monitoring and tracking progress; sustaining positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors; working with mentors; basic conflict resolution; basic strategies for career advancement; interviewing skills; and techniques for writing a skills-based resume and employment application. Also covers non-verbal communication, written and unwritten workplace policies, and positive work ethics.
    Prerequisites: RD30 and WR30 or appropriate placement test scores, and CS60.
