While it may seem that all you need to become a landscaper is a green thumb, the art and science of professional landscaping requires some very important skills. RCC’s Landscape Technician program offers courses in:
- Plant Identification
- Landscape Design/Maintenance
These classes provide you with basic skills and a solid foundation. For more information see the Landscape Technician Career Pathways Roadmap.
Southern Oregon provides one of the best locations in the world to develop skills for the landscape profession. Our Redwood Campus was established as an Arboretum and enables a great learning environment for our custom training and credit course offerings. Our instructors know the landscape industry and provide quality instruction based on exceptional industry and academic experience.
Typically, a class meets for three hours once a week, with a combination of practical and classroom experience. We offer you the opportunity to prepare for entry-level and supervisory work in landscape construction, landscape design and landscape management.
Our local advisory committee helps keep the program up-to-date and relevant. It includes landscape contractors, suppliers, greenhouse growers and other professionals in the field.
