What is a Pharmacy Technician?

Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists with duties that impact patient care and safety. Core responsibilities revolve around filling prescriptions for customers, including the mixing, measurement, counting, and recording of prescribed quantities and dosage levels. It demands the ability to communicate with the general public to provide assistance while working at the direction of a supervisor, in this case a pharmacist.

How to Apply

To become a RCC student, you must fill out an online admission application from our Get Started page.

  • Schedule a placement test.
  • If you have transcripts from another college, have your official transcripts sent to Rogue Central Services, 3345 Redwood Highway, Grants Pass, OR 97527. Once you have confirmed that your transcripts have arrived at RCC, submit a Transfer Credit Evaluation Request.  Once the evaluation is complete you will be notified as to how transfer coursework may be applied to the Pharmacy Technician certificate requirements.
  • Review the Pharmacy Technician Graduation Guide.
  • Attend a mandatory Information Session.
  • Complete prerequisites to the program.
  • Watch the short observation video of the program you intend to apply for. After watching this, write a short reflection essay (approx. 150-250 words to be included in your application).
  • Write a short personal statement of what led you to apply for one of our programs. Also, if you have previous healthcare experience, you can write a short statement describing that experience (to be included in your application).
  • Apply to the Pharmacy Technician Program by submitting an Allied Health Occupations Application Form - via your myRogue account.

Contact Career Services to help you prepare for the AHO program interview.

This is a competitive program and not all qualified applicants may be accepted. There will be a waitlist established for those not accepted into the cohort immediately in case new clinical space is open or students decline their seats in the cohort. Any application received after the application deadline will be waitlisted.
