Massage Therapy, Non-Credit, CEU Classes

The Workforce Training Department works closely with the Massage Therapy Department to provide non-credit classes for CEUs (Continuing Education Units).  They provide a chance for current professionals to upgrade their skills or learn a totally new technique.
 
One does not have to be a massage therapist or hold any license in healthcare to attend, however it is easier to understand some of the terms and functions being discussed.

Instructor: Doranne Long
Course Description:

Are your clients in constant pain? Are you looking to increase your skills? Come learn exercises and receive health tips on how to improve motion and strength, while also identifying common problems and solutions for decreasing pain and swelling. Taught by Doranne Long, PT, MS, orthopedic manual physical therapist with 34 years hands-on experience. This course is a head-to-toe review of the body, specifically addressing issues about the musculoskeletal system. A complimentary copy of Your Body Book, authored by Doranne, will be given to each student. Consists of one session. This course satisfies eight continuing education hours for LMTs, PTs, PTAs, chiropractors, and chiropractic assistants. Focuses on ethical best practices in massage therapy. Satisfies 4.0 continuing education contact hours for LMTs in the required Professional Ethics, Boundaries and Communication category. Trigger Point TherapyInstructor: Kimberly Tambellini

Course Description
Provides instruction and understanding of sports-related injuries and ailments. Students learn how to prevent injury, improve performance, relieve sore muscles, speed recovery, and reduce stress. Hands on application will be required to demonstrate sports massage techniques. Must be a licensed massage therapist (LMT), doctor of chiropractic (DC), or physical therapist (PT) to attend. Bring copy of licensure to first class session. Class provides of Continuing Education Units (CEU) documentation of the class topic material totaling 27 contact hours. Check with your licensing organization for the appropriate CEU category use. No class on 1/21 and 2/18. Textbook available at Redwood Campus bookstore and is the same as used by MT111.
