This link to schedule is for the SOHOPE Information Sessions. Neither will fulfill the requirement of the mandatory session for application to the Medical Administrative Assistant program, only the above mandatory program Information Sessions will.

What is a Medical Administrative Assistant?

Medical administrative assistants are integral members of the medical office communication team, helping to maintain efficiency in the office.  They play a key role in patient services by answering phones, greeting patients and triaging appointments.  They often update and file patients medical records, fill out insurance forms, arrange hospital admissions and lab services, and handle a variety of other administrative tasks.

Why become a Medical Administrative Assistant?

Medical Administrative Assistants are highly sought-after in today’s growing medical field. They help to maintain efficiency in a medical office, help with scheduling laboratory visits and communicate with insurance companies. The projected growth in this industry is 23% by 2024.

How to Apply

To become a RCC student, you must fill out an online admission application from our Get Started page.

  • Schedule a placement test.
  • If you have transcripts from another college, have your official transcripts sent to Rogue Central Services, 3345 Redwood Highway, Grants Pass, OR 97527. Once you have confirmed that your transcripts have arrived at RCC, submit a Transfer Credit Evaluation Request.  Once the evaluation is complete you will be notified as to how transfer coursework may be applied to the Medical Administrative Assistant certificate requirements.
  • Review the Medical Administrative Assistant Graduation Guide.
  • Watch the mandatory Information Session above.
  • Complete prerequisites to the program.
  • Watch the short observation video of the program you intend to apply for. After watching this, write a short reflection essay (approx. 150-250 words to be included in your application).
  • Career Services EmblemWrite a short personal statement of what led you to apply for one of our programs. Also, if you have previous healthcare experience, you can write a short statement describing that experience (to be included in your application).
  • Apply to the Medical Administrative Assistant Program by submitting an Allied Health Occupations Application Form - via your myRogue account.

This is a competitive program and not all qualified applicants may be accepted. There will be a waitlist established for those not accepted into the cohort immediately in case new clinical space is open or students decline their seats in the cohort. Any application received after the application deadline will be waitlisted.

How much will it cost?

This program is Financial Aid eligible and upon passing the State exams, will include a State approved certificate. Funding for the Medical Administrative Assistant program is available for students awarded into the SOHOPE grant.

The program is 24-33 credits at $99 pe credit for Oregon residents for a range of $2,376-$3,267 (not including prerequisites and fees).  Go here for more detailed tuition rate information.  Due to the rapidly changing nature of health care and associated costs, the following are only estimates.
