Beginning Drawing - Materials
Local art supply stores in your will have these items, or be able to order them. They can also be found by online shopping. Total cost estimated at $55 - $65, less if you already have some items.
Bring what you can to the first session and the instructor will work with you further on what you need.
- 11” X 14” Drawing pad (no newsprint, no sketch paper).
- Permanent black Sharpies – medium and fine point.
- Very thin rapidiograph pen or rolling ball black pen.
- Conte crayons (Black, white. The rust and brown colors may also be purchased, if you’d like.)
- Metal ruler.
- T-square and/or right angle.
- Kneaded, white latex eraser.
- #2 regular school pencil.
- Ebony pencil (This is equivalent to a #8 pencil. Ebony Sanford is one brand/type. Prisma is a brand name that the instructor recommends, also saying, “Stay away from General brand pencils and using conte crayons as your pencil.”)
- Drawing board. It can be masonite or smooth acrylic – These make a good, hard surface that will not leave imprints in your paper.
Optional
- If you wish, you may invest in a good set of pencils, a set that has 8 to ten different leads.
