STEM Camp for Middle School Girls

Verizon Innovative Learning Girls Summer Camp

July 22 - August 8, 2019 ~ RCC Redwood Campus, Grants Pass

Rogue Community College Brings New Technology Program to Campus Aimed at Middle School Girls
The Verizon Innovative Learning Program Will Introduce Augmented Reality, 3D Printing, Entrepreneurship and More to Prepare Girls for the Tech Careers of the Future
Summer Camp
This summer, Rogue Community College will join Verizon Innovative Learning, the education initiative of the Verizon Foundation, to introduce more girls, especially those in rural parts of the country, to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills.

This TUITION-FREE program is for girls in grades 6 - 8. Every girl deserves access to a better future. That’s why we’ve launched the Verizon Innovative Learning program for girls—a dynamic, three-week summer program for middle school girls, where they’ll learn design thinking, 3D printing, augmented reality and social entrepreneurship. Only 12% of engineers and 22% of computer professionals are women, and we want our girls to have the right tools to pursue all the opportunities available in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields.

Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on July 22 - August 8, and one Saturday a month throughout the school year.
• Lunch and transportation will be provided over the summer.
• Participating students will receive a tablet for the duration of the program.
• Our program was developed in partnership with the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship and Arizona State University and is expected to impact 1,500 girls across sixteen community college campuses.
