RCC & KCC Partnership

RCC & KCC Partnership to Expand Paramedic Education

Begins Fall Term 2021

We recognize that there is a demand for paramedic training in the Klamath County region and no local options for obtaining it. We also recognize that the time, distance, and cost of commuting to our campus to attend in-person classes can be a significant challenge. In order to better serve the region, RCC is working in partnership with KCC to address these issues where possible. RCC will now allow a limited number of students to participate in the Paramedic coursework with expanded options.

Paramedic Lecture/Discussion Classes
Lecture classes are held two days per week (Monday and Friday) from 9 am to 1 pm at the RCC Table Rock Campus (TRC) in White City.

Students who live in Klamath or Lake County will be allowed the option of attending these lecture sessions via Zoom from a classroom at the KCC campus.

Lab Classes (Skills and scenarios)
Lab classes are Wednesdays from 9-3 and also a skills lab either Monday 2:00-3:30, or Wednesday 3:30-5:00. Preference for Wednesday skills labs will be given to students traveling >60 miles. In-person attendance at the RCC Table Rock Campus (TRC) is required at this time for all labs.

Clinical Time
Clinical educational shifts will be required at multiple sites, many of which are in the Rogue Valley. When possible, Emergency Department clinical shifts at Sky Lakes Medical Center will be made available. Additional ED shifts and some specialized clinical shifts (Anesthesia, pediatrics, etc.) will be required to be completed in the Medford area.

Field Internship
Efforts will be made to place students at internship sites that are close to home when possible, but no guarantee of local placement is possible and travel may be required.

Future Possibilities
We are exploring options for adding additional flexibility at some point in the future. These may include the ability to attend lab classes held at a Klamath County location, and increased clinical shift opportunities at Sky Lakes Medical Center.
