A Brief History
RCC began mapping in 2017 based off The MAPPING Primer: Mapping the Way to Learning Outcomes by R. Stiehl and K. Telban.

Overview of WHY we map
The power of program mapping is the conversation it stimulates – a conversation that focuses on resolving strategic and systemic issues like:

  • better alignment of both content and learning activities with intended outcomes
  • increased connectivity between courses or workshops; awareness of repetition and transfer of essential content
  • alignment of program capstone experiences and assessment tasks with each other and with the intended outcomes
  • concern for consistent bench-marks and standards across the program
  • the collection and use of evidence
